The form of this song is AABA and it is interesting to notice that the "A" sections are formed by a 12 bar blues with several chromatic chords that allow the application of many melodic motifs. The bridge has 8 bars with 2-5 and 2-5-1 cadences.

This song is mainly performed by vocalists, highlighting the performances of Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Anita O'Day, Martha Hayes, Ray Charles, Bobby Darin, Julie London, Chris Connor, Jane Morgan, Carmen McRae, Sinéad O'Connor, Diane Schuur, Earl Grant and many others.
