"Take Five" is a jazz composition written by Paul Desmond and performed by "The Dave Brubeck Quartet" on the 1959 "Time Out" album. This song has 24 bars divided into 3 parts (ABA). This song has as its main feature the mixed 5/4 time signature with accents in the first and fourth beat (3/4 + 2/4). This theme quickly became a standard, becoming part of the repertoire of many jazz musicians.

This theme has been performed by big names such as George Benson, Tito Puente, Al Jarreau, Carmen McRae, Roberto Menescal, Chet Atkins, Chick Corea, Sadao Watanabe, Lee Ritenour, Brian Blade and many others.

This jazz standard can be found in "Real Book vol.1" on page 420 and in "Real Book vol.6" on page 397.
