“Witch Hunt” is a jazz song composed by Wayne Shorter released on his sixth album “Speak No Evil” in 1965 in which Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Elvin Jones participated. The cover of this album features Shorter with his first wife Teruka Nakagami.

In the melody of this theme, Shorter makes use of perfect fourths, which began to gain popularity in jazz circles in the post-bebop era. This theme is introduced by a phrase at a tempo of around 115 bpm, then changes to a pulse of around 140 bpm.

This jazz standard can be found in the “Real Book vol.1” on page 496 and in the “Real Book vol.6” on page 446.

This backing track consists of drums and bass. The tempo is at 140 bpm.
