The House of the Rising Sun Backing Track – A backing track for practicing solos over this famous song.

This is an American folk song that has been recorded by many artists in various versions, the earliest being by Clarence “Tom” Ashley, Doc Walsh and Gwen Foster and the Callahan Brothers in the 1930s. In the 1940s it was recorded by Woody Guthrie, Josh White and Huddie “Lead Belly” and in the 1960s it was covered by Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, Los Speakers, Frijid Pink and The Animals, the latter with a version that was a huge commercial success. The German band Scorpions also contributed a version of this song in the 1980s.

Here, the music student, even a beginner, will have no difficulty in soloing over this harmonic progression. The chords are in the harmonic field of A minor, with the exception of the D chord, which is a modal borrowing chord. This is a point that should receive greater attention from the improviser.

The instruments that are part of this backing track are: Drums, Bass, Piano and Guitar. The tempo is 120bpm.
