Lady Bird Backing Track Jazz – Apply your improvisation skills to this famous jazz theme from the 1940s.

“Lady Bird” is a song composed by Tadd Dameron in 1939. It is one of the most performed songs by modern jazz artists. It has many 2-5 and 2-5-1 cadences throughout its 16 bars, ideal for practicing improvisation over this chord progression.

This jazz standard has been performed by great masters such as Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey, Don Byas, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Dexter Gordon, Sonny Rollins, Charles Mingus, Barney Kessel, Gerry Mulligan, Bud Powell, Chet Baker, Scott Hamilton, Andy LaVerne, Barry Harris, Roy Hargrove and many others.

Miles Davis’ composition “Half Nelson” uses a chord progression very similar to that of “Lady Bird”.

This song is present in the “Real Book vol.1” on page 256 and in the “Real Book vol.6” on page 235.

This backing track consists of drums, bass and piano. The tempo is 180bpm.
