Jelly Roll NO BASS Backing Track Jazz - 132bpm
Jelly Roll NO BASS Backing Track Jazz – Here the bassist can apply his knowledge of this Charles Mingus theme.
“Jelly Roll” is a 1959 composition by Charles Mingus that is a tribute to the legendary New Orleans jazz pianist, Jelly Roll Morton. Although it initially sounds like a blues, its harmony presents a different blues movement from its seventh bar onwards, which instead of returning to its possible tonic, rises to its perfect fourth. From there, the traditional I, VI, II, V progression begins, revealing that “Ab” is in fact its tonality.
This theme can be found in the “Real Book vol.1” on page 243 and in the “Real Book vol.6” on page 226.
This backing track is composed of drums and piano. The tempo is 132bpm.
