“Corcovado” is a bossa nova song composed in 1960 by Antonio Carlos Jobim, also known as “Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars”.
This song has been performed by artists from all over the world, among them we can mention João Gilberto, Cannonball Adderley, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Tony Bennett, Charlie Byrd, Vince Guaraldi, Oscar Peterson, Sérgio Mendes, Henry Mancini, Grant Green, Earl Grant, Frank Sinatra, Nara Leão, Elis Regina, Ella Fitzgerald, Astrud Gilberto, Joey DeFrancesco, Jimmy Smith, Art Garfunkel, Diana Krall, Andrea Bocelli and many others.
This bossa nova can be considered a jazz standard and can be found in the “Real Book vol.1” on page 94 and in the “Songbook Bossa Nova Almir Chediak vol.4” on page 70. It was on the latter that we based ourselves to build this backing track, since it is an author with great authority on bossa nova harmony.
